Life Legacy


Mr. Lee Gordon Lewellyn, 79, of 577 Miller Chapel Road in Reidsville, passed away early Monday morning, July 30, 2012 at Avante of Reidsville.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Reidsville Freewill Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Stokesdale Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Lewellyn was born in Stokesdale on March 30, 1933, a son of Ollie and Sally James Lewellyn, both deceased. He was retired from Lorillard Tobacco Co. He attended Reidsville Baptist Church. He never met a stranger and was the best grandfather in the world.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Butcher Lewellyn of the home; his daughters, Betty Griffin of Alabama and Deborah Lewellyn of Blaton, Fla.; his son, Lee Gordon Lewellyn, Jr. and wife Amy of Cape Cod, Mass.; his step daughter, Wendy Thomas and husband Johnny of Madison; his step sons, Robert Tilley and wife Rita of Reidsville, Billy Tilley and wife Josephine of Pine Hall, Jesse Tilley and wife Karen of Collinsville, Va.; and Jimmy Tilley and wife Jennifer of Eden; his eight grandchildren, 17 step grandchildren, one great grandchild and nine step great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Louise Lambert and Maurene Shelton; and his brothers, Carl Lewellyn and Raymond Lewellyn.

The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. on Thursday at the church immediately preceding the service and other times at the residence.
