Alger Boyce Baker, Jr., 86, of Eden passed away on Sunday morning, June 6, 2021 at his residence.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Alger was born in Mount Crogan, SC on September 3, 1934, a son of Alger B. Baker, Sr. and Hallie Washburn Baker, both deceased.  He was a veteran of the US Army.  He was a retired shop foreman with Hertz Penske Co.  He served his community as a volunteer fireman for 22 years, earning the Fireman of the Year award after his third year of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Durham Baker and his siblings, Phil Baker and Betty Talley.

Alger is survived by his children, Teresa K. Baker of Eden, Melissa Baker Hoover and husband Shane of Clover, SC, Andrew "Andy" Baker and wife, Sherie of Albany GA; his brother, Charles "Spud" Baker of Eden; and his granddaughter, Emma Grace Baker of Albany, GA.
