Alice Forrest
Mike
Feb 3, 1939 — May 2, 2022
Mrs. Alice Faye Forrest Mike, 83, passed away, Monday morning, May 2, 2022, at her residence while under the care of Hospice of Rockingham County.
Alice was born in Stokes County, NC, on February 3, 1939, the first of three daughters to the late Richard and Evelyn Wilkes Forrest, Eden, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Peggy Walker.
Among her varied vocational positions, Alice worked as purchasing manager at Anaconda Wire and Cable Company, Eden, during which time she met and spoke to her future beloved husband, William "Bill" Mike, about his lostness and the imperative to accept Jesus Christ. Convicted by hearing the truth of her evangelism and realizing his need for salvation, he accepted Christ as Lord and Savior. After their marriage the couple resided in New Jersey, where Alice was employed by Western Electric, and later in Cary, NC with a position as an executive assistant to the president at then Aeroglide Corp.
Far beyond Alice's vocational history was her heartfelt desire to tell others about Jesus Christ's substitutionary death, burial, and resurrection on behalf of lost sinners worldwide. Her testimony of such led her to joining the Auxiliary of The Gideons International in 1981, after her marriage. She assumed responsible positions thereafter, initially in New Jersey, and then in North Carolina, where after transitioning through the North Carolina cabinet's positions, she became the State Auxiliary president for three years, 1996-98. Throughout her membership in The Gideons International, Alice drew people to hear the gospel along with offering a free copy of her ever-present Gideons-produced Personal Workers Testament as purchased by herself.
Alice is survived by her loving, devoted husband, Bill, of the home; children Cindy Silvey and husband, Pastor Chuck Silvey, of Florida, James Mike of Denver, Linda Walsh and husband, Jim, of Bernardsville Township, New Jersey, sister Bettie Dilley and husband David, of Eden; grandchildren Ryan Silvey and wife, Andrea, Justin Silvey and wife, Lynda, Elijah Walsh, Jonah Walsh, Elisha Walsh, Josiah Walsh, and Jeremiah Walsh; great-grandchildren Zachary Silvey, Victoria Silvey, Harrison Silvey, and Cooper Silvey; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to acknowledge the godly care and concern of Alice's caregivers: Carolyn, Michelle, Priscilla, Susie, and Tina.
