Alice Novaline Powell Stratton, 91, of Eden went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at UNC Rockingham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A private memorial service will be held due to the Covid pandemic.

Alice was born in Leaksville on July 23, 1929, the daughter of Roy Powell and Ollie Wray Powell, both deceased.  She was retired from Morehead Memorial Hospital.  She was a very Godly woman who was a member of the First Church of the Living God, where she loved to sing and hear about her Lord Jesus Christ.  She was a loving mother and "Nannie", who read her bible and worked crossword puzzles daily. She loved everyone, and everyone loved her. She never met a stranger. She was an avid reader and also loved working jigsaw puzzles. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter were her favorite holidays because she enjoyed her family and friends so much.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Jackson Stratton, Jr.; brother, Roy Powell; and sister-in-law, Toye Powell.

Alice is survived by her children, Teresa Stratton of Eden, Gary Stratton of Eden and Ronald "Byrd" Stratton (Sherry) of Reidsville; her brother, Talmadge Powell; her grandchildren, Chad Moore (Amber), Tanner Fraser (Rachel), Pamela Stophel (Mark), William Jackson Stratton III (Cheryl), Ken Stratton Margaret Evans, Sheree Stratton; 16 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Alice Stratton, "Nannie", will be greatly missed.
