Obituary

Amelia Ann Terry Woods (Milly), age 71 of Reidsville, NC entered Heaven's gates on Tuesday, August 25, 2020.  She was born in Leaksville, NC to the late Samuel Warren Terry, Sr. (Tommy) and Mary Henrietta Shively Terry (Henrietta) on September 10, 1948.  She is predeceased by her brother Samuel Warren Terry, Jr., her sister Susan Terry Anderson, and her husband James Allen Woods.

Upon graduating from Morehead High School, Milly worked in various administrative roles until she decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a registered nurse.  She attended Patrick Henry Community College and gained her nursing degree in 1986.  Her nursing career spanned over 20 years and included working at Morehead Memorial Hospital, Morehead Nursing Center, Bayberry Retirement Inn, Advanced Home Care, Belhaven Hospital, and Hospice of Rockingham County.  She was a caring and compassionate caregiver who left her healing touch on the multitude of patients she served.  Milly's ultimate act of service and compassion was the loving care she provided her late husband during his battle with cancer.

Family and friends were especially important to Milly.  She enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for the ones she loved, most especially over the holidays.  She was known for her chicken salad and often brought it to ailing family members and friends.  Milly frequented area vintage and consignment stores and was always on the lookout for unique treasures.  She had a knack for decorating and turned all the places she lived into warm, inviting environments.  She developed a special bond with each of her pets, and she enjoyed the love and companionship they provided.  Milly loved traveling to the beach, and her happiest days were spent with family and friends at the North Carolina coast.

Milly is survived by her daughter Laura Hall Dodson (Danny), and daughter Nicki Hall Simpson (Kenny), her sister, Patricia Terry Marsh (Ray), and her brother Joseph Eddy Terry (Kim).  She is also survived by four grandchildren, Chynna Leigh Hubbard, Kristin Nichole Widerman, Ivy Jayne Hubbard, and Morgan Faith Sharron, two great-grandchildren, Jagger James Wilson and Lumi Ophelia Wilson, a number of other loving relatives and close friends, and her adoring dog Spanky.

A graveside ceremony will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens at 11:00 am on Friday, August 28th.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Rockingham County.  The family will be eternally grateful to the staff of Hospice for their care and kindness during Milly's final days.  The family would like to thank those who have offered prayers and extended emotional support during this time.
