Bert Allen Price, 80, on August 3, 2020 stepped into that distant light which will guide him on his journey in the greatest adventure of all.  His time here was devoted to his family, his home and his church.  His passions were being a parent, grandparent, gardener and genealogist.

Bert was born on October 21, 1939 in Georgetown, SC to Gladys Martin Price and John W. Price, Jr.  Following his marriage to Judith Carylon Spencer Price on January 5, 1963, after only a 7 ½ week courtship.  Their 57 years together were beautiful and happy.

Bert retired after a dedicated career as a Deputy Sheriff with the Rockingham County Sheriff's Dept.  Following retirement, he worked for seven years as a Court Security Officer with the U.S. Marshal Service.  He was admired and respected by all who knew him.  He held a BA in Administration of Justice from Guilford College.  He also attended The Citadel, Mars Hill and Wake Forest University.  He thrived on learning his entire life.

He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Robert (Bob) Preston Price, and sister Nancy Price Gilbert.

He is survived by his wife Judi, daughter, Stacy Renee Price of Stoneville; son Bert Allen Price Clark (Philip) of Columbus, Ohio, son, John William Price (Amy) of Stoneville; grandchildren, Spencer Thomas Joyce of Maryland, Kennedy Carlisle Joyce of Stoneville, Ian William Price and Erin Avery Price of Stoneville; brother, John William Price III (Ceil) of Summerfield, Ronald Martin Price (Mona) of Madison, and multiple nieces and nephews.

In lieu of a funeral service, a gathering of friends and family will be held at Starling Avenue Baptist Church in Martinsville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 with final interment to be scheduled at a later date.
