Obituary

Betty Hall Buckner, 91, of Eden passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 2 pm Saturday, February 26, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Draper in Eden.  She will lie in state from 12-5 pm on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home for anyone who would like to pay their respects.   The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Dana Rorrer.

Betty (Bet) was born on October 2, 1930 to the late William Valmer Hall and Minnie Hutcherson Hall.  After graduating from Stoneville High School, Bet married Bobby Buckner and became a stay-at-home mom.  She later became the finance manager of Buckner's Auto Body Shop.  Being a homemaker was her passion and she thrived by cooking, sewing, and caring for her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Family meant everything to Bet and she was the shining light in their lives.  She had a unique way of interacting with family and friends and creating special memories that will be cherished by others for years to come.  She opened her home to many over the years, entertaining and hosting not only family and friends, but also visiting pastors and missionaries from near and far.  She was truly a God-fearing and servant-hearted Christian, beaming with Godly character.  She was never far from a Bible and quoted scripture to her family continuously.  Love and God were at the center of everything she did throughout her life.

She was an active member in church all her life teaching, singing, encouraging and financially supporting missionaries, most recently at First Baptist Church of Draper in Eden.

Bet is survived by her daughter, Dana B. Rorrer (Wade) of Stoneville and son, Bobby E. Buckner, Jr. (Pam) of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Dale R. Smith (Richard), Robert Rorrer (Christy), Amy R. Stegall (Jimmy), Chris Buckner and Tammy B. Tillery; eleven great grandchildren, Hayley Smith, Emma Smith, Lydia Rorrer, Valery Stegall, Davis Stegall, Jacob Buckner, Sam Buckner, Thomas Tillery, Jack Tillery, Walt Tillery and Meg Tillery; special niece, Tina R. Massey and sister-in-law, Charlotte Hall.

Along with her parents, Bet was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby E. Buckner; her daughter, Dale Marie Buckner; sisters, Elaine H. Holliman, Ola Mae H. Redmond; and brother, Jim Hall.
