Betty Ruth Jones Gatewood, 90, formerly of Eden passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Stanley Total Living Center in Stanley, NC.

A memorial service will be held at at 1:30 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Leaksville Moravian Church.  The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall.

Betty was born in Madison on December 24, 1933, the daughter of James Cook Jones and Nettie Nally Jones.  She was a retired Chiropractic Nurse with Eden Chiropractic.  She enjoyed her retirement by volunteering with several organizations in the community: Disabled American Veterans, Hospice of Rockingham County and Leaksville Moravian Church's food ministry. She was known for her love of cats and traveling.

She is survived by her daughter Renita Courts of Gastonia. She had a son Ed Gatewood who passed away in 2005. She had two granddaughters Abigail Newton of Belmont (husband Jason White) and Sally Courts of Wilmington and two great grandsons.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stanley Total Living for their kindness and wonderful care of Betty.
