Charles Houston Ellison, 83, of Ruffin passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday evening, April 9, 2026, at 6 pm at Boone and Cooke Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 until 6pm at the funeral home prior to the service and other times at the residence.

Charles was born in Martinsville, Virginia on January 15, 1943, a son of Lonnie Benning Ellison and Naomi Lemons Ellison Rogers, both deceased. He worked in the textile business and retired from Frontier Spinning.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy David Ellison of the home; his children, Janet Steward, Curtis Ellison, Tammy Ellison and Geneva French, all of Eden; his sister, Christine Bowman of Florida; 23 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Ellison; his son-in-law, Kevin Steward; his siblings, Lonnie Ellison, Paul Ellison, Hunter Ellison, Harold Ellison, Diane Saunders and Judy Stuphin; his grandchildren, Holly Steward, Danielle Steward and Justin Steward and his great granddaughters, Teagan Wilson and McKinnley Ellison.
