Clyde "Sonny" C. Adkins, Jr., 93, of Climax, NC passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Green Valley Hospital in Greensboro, NC.

A graveside service will be held on October 30, 2020 at 3pm at Dan View Cemetery with Pastor Larry Grisby officiating.

Sonny was born in Schoolfield, Virginia on November 2, 1926 the son of Clyde C. Adkins, Sr. and Nellie Vest Adkins, both deceased. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air force. He worked as a TV technician and also taught electronics at GTCC in Greensboro. He also enjoyed his favorite hobby, a amateur ham radio operator.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife, Monica White Adkins of the home; his daughter, Valerie Adkins Coble and husband, Gary of Climax; his son, Chip Adkins of Thomasville; his sister, Agnes Martin of Eden; his grandchildren, Michelle Adkins Mullins and husband, Jack, Monica Walters, Stephanie Simmerson and Dennis Coble and wife, Whitney and his great grandchildren, Kayla Walters, Brennan Walters, Izabelle Mullins, Lydia Simmerson, McKenna Simmerson, Valerie Simmerson, Olivia Coble and Jaxson Mullins.

In addition to his parents, Sonny was predeceased in death by his sisters, Iris Patton and Nel Finch.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 from 2 until 2:45pm prior to the graveside service at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel.
