Danny Lee Whitley, 71, of Eden, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at his residence.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 pm Monday, May 8, 2023 at Ridge-View Memorial Gardens with Military Rites performed by the North Carolina National Guard, and the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the residence.

Danny was born in Charlotte on November 6, 1951, a son of Bobby Keller Whitley and Viola Garren Stone, both deceased. He was a US Army veteran serving in the 82 ^nd Airborne and Special Ops. He retired from Fieldcrest Mills and also worked for Brian Center Nursing Home.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Tommy and Alan Whitley.

Danny is survived by his wife, Deborah Wilson Whitley of the home; his children, Michelle Craig and husband Robert of Eden and Beth Whitley and Scott Hyler of Ruffin; his sister, Diane Austin and husband Harlan of Maryland; his brother, David Whitley of Reidsville; his grandchildren, Eric and Emma Craig; and his nephew, Robert Barnes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to a charity that benefits veterans of the donor's choice.
