Daryl was a straight-up kind of guy – if you knew him, you know!  He enjoyed watching old westerns on TV, savoring his favorite leg and thigh meal from KFC, and treating himself to an occasional pecan pie.  Over the years, he opened his home to many who had nowhere else to go.  Daryl truly had a heart of gold and would gladly give you "the shirt off his back".

Our family is especially grateful for the care his sister, Sherry Ann Hensley, gave to her brother Daryl.  She spent many hours cleaning, running errands, and making sure Daryl had everything he needed.

The family is also deeply thankful to his caregiver, Judy Harris, who brought him much comfort and companionship during the past few months.  On any given day, you could find them side by side watching their favorite game shows, Let's Make a Deal and The Price is Right.  Whether sparring playfully or sharing a hug at the end of her shift, Judy and Daryl were the best of friends.

Special thanks are also extended to Heart and Soul Homecare, Meals on Wheels of Rockingham County, his friend Mark Carter, whose steadfast help in recent months was invaluable, his physician, Dr. Hasanaj, and Boone & Cooke Funeral Home and Crematory, who have served our family with kindness and compassion.
