David Ray
Dunn
Mar 16, 1948 — Oct 5, 2026
Eden
Our hearts are heavy; we have lost our oldest brother and are trying to make sense of this thing called dementia.
David Ray Dunn was born March 16th, 1948, in coastal North Carolina to Needham and Margaret Dunn, the oldest of their five children. He passed away on October 5th, 2026.
His early years were spent on the farm with Grandmama and Papa. In his teen years he played piano in a band and was also a skilled guitar player. The stories he told about opening for The Emeralds, chasing or being chased by the chickens and later, driving the school bus, were precious memories as he grew older.
David joined the Army in 1968 and served two years during the Vietnam war. Later in life he ran municipal and private wastewater treatment facilities.
Along with our parents, he is pre-deceased by our paternal grandparents, John F. and Laura G. Dunn, brother, Stephen Craig Dunn, maternal grandparents, John P. and Evie L. Yates, brother-in-law, Mike Ingalls, and his only child, Lisa R. Glazier.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Macy, and remembered by his surviving siblings, Garey Dunn (Diana), Ronald Dunn (Lois) and Malinda Ingalls, as well as his nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
No formal service is planned. His family will gather for private interment of his ashes at Bethleham Methodist Church Cemetery in Bogue at a later date.
