William Davis Watkins, 74, of Stoneville passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Gibson House Hospice Home.

A service of remembrance will be held at 1 pm Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 pm before the service at the funeral home.

Davis was born in Rockingham County on February 20, 1950, a son of Melvin Lee Watkins and Vera Mae Kannedy Watkins, both deceased.  He was a graduate of Stoneville High School. He retired from the NC DOT after 34 years of service in the Bridge Dept.  He enjoyed playing golf. He spent many hours hanging out at the Virginia Well Co. and at Bob's Restaurant.  He was a man of few words but had a lot of friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Faye Young and his brother, Ronald Dean Watkins.

Davis is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cindy Wyrick Watkins of the home; his son, William Jason Watkins (Jessie Roberts) of Stoneville; his siblings, Frances Gann, Loretta Grogan, Sandra Price, Odessa Cardwell, Darrell Gene Watkins; his granddaughter, Odette Roberts; His beloved dog, Autumn; and several nieces and nephews.
