Dawn Dickerson Chilton was born on May 7, 1955, and was sent to her eternal home on February 11, 2025 at Forsyth Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC due to a lengthy illness.

Dawn was a graduate of East Carolina University, where she earned her degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.  That degree sent her to work at Morehead Hospital.  She met and married Zach Chilton in 1978.  Dawn loved to travel and traveled to Italy, Germany and England with her family.

Dawn had a deep love for all animals.  She especially loved her cats, Lui and Fletcher and her dog that she affectionally called "Old Dog."

Those who knew Dawn will remember her for her enjoyment of dining with family and friends at restaurants and family gatherings.

Dawn was preceded in death by her father, Frederick Dickerson and her mother, Alma Dickerson.

She is survived by her husband Zach Chilton, her brothers, Tony Dickerson (Paula) and Chris Dickerson (Jennifer); her sister, Rita Chambers (Dave); her brothers-in-law, John Chilton and Jimmy Dean Chilton; and her sister-in-law, Vanessa Stewart (Bobby).

The family wishes to thank Dr. Shah, nurses and doctors at the Brian Center, UNC Hospital and Forsyth Hospital.

To honor her wishes, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Rockingham Humane Society Animal Shelter, 205 Boone Road, Eden, NC 27288.
