Dewey Lee Nelson, 85, formerly of Stoneville passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 in South Carolina.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Dewey was born in Stokes County on October 16, 1935, a son of Curtis and Gladys Nelson, both deceased.  He was a self-employed carpenter.  He was a very caring and godly man who loved the Lord.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Laverne Nelson; his son Keith Nelson; his daughter, Wendy Hailey; and his sisters, Nelta Jones and Alta Fretwell.

Dewey is survived by his children, Duke Nelson of Oak Ridge, Tonya Golonka of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Jackie Ray Nelson of Salisbury, Carmen "Kelly" Beasley of Little River, SC; his siblings, Eva Bragg of Stokesdale, Wanda Annis of Ridgeway, Frankie Vaden of Statesville; his grandchildren, Christian, Sissy, Brandon, Brandi Scott and husband Troy; and his great grandchildren, Otto, Kayleigh and Tanner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Boone & Cooke Funeral Home to assist with the expenses.
