Donald "Donnie" Joe Hurd, 67, of Eden passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at his residence.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2 pm Friday, May 10, 2024, at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm before the service at the funeral home.

Donnie was born in Rockingham County on September 15, 1956, a son of John Wesley Hurd and Lera Foley Hurd, both deceased.  He worked for Dyer's Plumbing.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jean Pulliam Hurd; his son, John Carlton Hurd, his brother, Darrell Hurd, Sr.; and his nieces, Casey Lee Hurd and Brandy Kay Hurd.

Donnie is survived by his siblings, Robert Hurd and wife Elizabeth and their children, Ann Marie and Robert W. Hurd of Eden, Eddie Hurd of Richmond, KY, and Susie Hurd Allen of Ridgeway, VA; his step children, Lynn Robertson of Eden, Dana Robertson and husband Robby of Eden; his grandchildren, Tyler Hurd, Channing Hurd, Tres and Jennifer Robertson, Evan and Kayla Dix, Hampton and Nora Kennon, Kendall Robertson and Kimberly Morris; and his great grandchildren, Brentley Robertson, Luke Dix, Micah Robertson, Madelyn Kennon, Ivy Dix and Natalie Kennon.
