Doris Edwards Owens passed away on Friday evening at Moses Cone Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 3 pm Monday, June 28, 2021 at Amazing Grace Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 pm before the service at the church.  The family will receive friends between 2-5 pm on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the home of Rita Gilley, 193 Smith Acres Road in Eden.

Doris was born in Rockingham County on July 23, 1936, a daughter of Frank Edwards and Maude Vernon Edwards, both deceased.  She was retired from Stoneville Furniture.  She was a faithful member and tireless servant of Amazing Grace Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School.  She was a godly compassionate mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret, Thomas, David, Phillip, John, Nancy, Patricia and Frances.

Doris is survived by her children, Benny Jarrell Redd and wife Deborah of Eden, Debra Turney of Eden, Rita Gilley and husband Joe of Eden, Howard Owens and wife Gabi of Stoneville, Bryan Owens of Eden; her sisters, Louise Shelton, Virginia Dean and Janice Pulliam, all of Eden; her grandchildren, Angie Redd, B.J. Redd and wife Amanda, Travis Comer, Christina Brooks and husband Evan, Elizabeth Branch and husband Josh, Danielle Owens, Naomi Owens; and her great grandchildren, Bailey Redd, Caleb Redd, Alyna Redd, Owen Brooks, Ashton Brooks, Vivian Branch, Everleigh Brooks and Noah Branch.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Amazing Grace Baptist Church Preschool Program, 4530 NC 135, Stoneville, NC 27048.
