Earl Franklin
Moore
Jul 12, 1935 — Dec 12, 2025
Earl Franklin Moore passed away at his residence on December 12, 2025.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, December 21, at 3:00 in the afternoon at the First Baptist Church 409 South Main Street, Reidsville, NC. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 pm at the church before the service and other times at the home of his daughter, Lea Ann.
Earl was born July 12, 1935, in Rockingham County, the son of John Wilson Moore and Pearly Lawson Moore, both deceased. He retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company. He was the owner of Moore's Landscaping. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Reidsville. He was very active in his Baraca Sunday School class. He was a high-ranking member of the Masons, serving as Master of Anderson Lodge in Gretna, Master of Roman Eagle 122, as well as Chaplain of Danville, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Barbara Speas Moore and his siblings Bill Moore, Bob Moore, and Donna Welch.
He is survived by his daughter Lea Ann Hodnett; his grandchildren Jacob Hodnett (Kristy), Joel Hodnett (Erin), and Jennie Lea Hall (Lance); his great grandchildren Ava, Adam, Gatlynn, and Cade; his brother, Jimmy Moore; his beloved Speas family; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Earl was a memorable man who left a memorable impression. He was very well-loved by those who knew him and those who knew him well would agree that he was one of a kind. He was a man of few words, but most of those words either made you laugh or gave a meaningful truth. He is in the presence of Jesus and his beloved wife, no doubt. If he could say it now, his family is quite certain he would simply say "take a nap" and "if ya need me, I'll call ya".
Boone & Cooke Funeral Home is serving the family.
