Gene Roling Overby, Sr., 83, of Stoneville passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at 3:30pm at Old Country Church in Madison. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends I hour prior to the service, from 2:30 until 3:30pm at the church.

Gene was born on May 22, 1939 in Reidsville a son of Chesley Overby and Mary Walker Overby, both deceased. He worked as a machine operator at American Tobacco Company. He loved to watch Gun Smoke and Boxing and was a member of Old Country Church.

Gene is survived by his sons, Gene Overby of Stoneville, Tim Amburn and wife, Renee of Reidsville, Virgil Rodney Amburn of Reidsville and Tony Dew Amburn-Doyle and wife, Brenda of Eden; his brother, Larry Overby of Caswell County; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by his wife, Catherine Land Overby and his siblings, Chesley Overby, Tim Overby and Shirley Overby Cook.

Memorials may be made to the Old Country Church in memory of Gene.
