Gladys "Cookie" Dillard, 79, of Eden was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Monday, October 4, 2021 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Danville, VA.  The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the funeral home and other times at 815 Bryant Street in Eden.  The family requests that Covid-19 guidelines be observed.

Cookie was born in Danville on August 4, 1942, a daughter of James Garnett Jones, Sr. and Gladys Moore Jones, both deceased.  She was a retired supervisor with Fieldcrest Mills.  She was a faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard Dillard, Sr.; her sons, Randy Hancock and Barry Hancock; her siblings, Jackie Lee Jones, James "Butch" Jones, Jr. and Harold "Chickie" Jones; and her daughter-in-law, Tammy Hancock.

Surviving are her children, Kim Robertson and husband Dean of Eden, and Jimmy Coleman Hancock, Jr. of Eden; her special friend, Mindi Napier; her grandchildren, Katie Hancock and fiancé Jason Turner, Breanna Burris, Alicia Hancock and Niki Napier; and her great grandchildren, Zachary Hancock, Walter Betterton and Jace Turner.
