J. Daniel Boone, Sr., 87, of the Cherry Grove Community of Caswell County passed away on Thursday evening, June 18, 2026 at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Camp Springs Community Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.

Daniel was born in Caswell County on April 10, 1939, a son of William Lofton Boone and Linnie Phillips Boone, both deceased. He grew up and later farmed on the farm that has been in the family since 1850. He later retired from Miller Brewing Company with over 20 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Hazel Boone Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Boone; his children, J. Daniel Boone, Jr., Lisa B. Shaver, Jody Pruitt and wife Tammy, Tammy Somers and husband Butch; his brother, Henry Boone and wife Amy; his grandchildren, Morgan Shaver, Justin Somers, Kaley Hinshaw, Kelly Somers; his great grandchildren, Garrett Gwynn, Olivia Somers, Reese Somers, Everett Somers, Harper Thompson, Savannah Pruitt, Erabella Wells; his nieces, Debbie Campbell and Patti Gwynn; and his nephews, Billy and Terry Smith.
