James Joseph Austin, 83, of Eden passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at the Gibson House Hospice Home after a lengthy illness.

To honor his wishes, there will be no services.

James was born in Hopewell, Virginia on June 29, 1939, a son of James Edward Austin and Annie Lee Townes Austin, both deceased.  He was a retired brick mason.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Lee Marie Austin.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Sandra M. Austin; his sister, Sophie Austin Watson; and his nephews, Roger Watson, and John Watson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
