James Gordon "Jimmy" Smith, Sr., 78, of Reidsville, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Sovah Health in Danville.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter, 700 Berrymore Road in Reidsville.

Jimmy was born in Danville, Virginia on May 15, 1945, a son of Edward Smith and Cora Payne Smith, both deceased.  He retired from Goodyear after 30 years of service.  He also sold and installed satellite systems.  He was a great husband and a wonderful daddy.  He loved the Lord and serving others.  He would give someone the shirt off his back if they needed it.  He was a wonderful provider and hard worker.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Edward Smith, Jr., Peggy Fain and David Smith.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Yvonne Stone Smith; his children, Teresa King and husband Richard, Tammy Joyce and husband Jimmy and James Smith, Jr. and wife Amanda; his sister, Nellie Irby and husband Kenny; his sister-in-law, Eva Smith; his grandchildren, Tessa Kennon, Tabitha Moore, Jim Smith, III, Courtney Smith, Hunter Joyce, Holden Joyce, Raylyn Smith, Edward Smith, Jacob Smith, Lily Joyce, Isabell King, Bently King, Angel King; and numerous great grandchildren.
