James Reid Hutcherson, 84, of North Carolina, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved him dearly. There will be a graveside service on September 21, 2026, at 2pm at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Born in Rockingham County, North Carolina, James was known to many as Jimmy, but to his many friends and coworkers, he was simply “Hutch.” Hutch spent many years working at Auto Parts and Accessories, where he was well known and loved by those who had the privilege of working alongside him. Hutch was blessed to have so many friends, becoming a familiar part of the lives of so many.

Above all, James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared an amazing life with his beloved wife, Myrtle S. Hutcherson. Together, they built a life filled with love, memories, laughter, and countless moments shared side by side, whether it was in the peaceful home or on the dance floor. James wanted the world to know just how much Myrtle meant to him. Their life together was truly special, and he often made it clear that he did not know what he would do without her. She was one of the greatest blessings of his life, and their love was something he cherished deeply.

James was the proud father of Billy J. Holland and Christopher J. Hutcherson.

His grandchildren, Christopher James Holland and Danica Leigh Holland, held a very special place in his heart. They meant the world to him, and he loved them more than words could ever express. To them, he was lovingly known as Pawpaw. The love, memories, laughter, and special moments they shared will remain with them forever.

James also found great joy and fulfillment in his artwork. He was a talented artist whose paintings became treasured pieces in numerous homes. His creativity allowed him to express himself in a special way, and the beautiful artwork he created will continue to serve as lasting reminders of his talent, his passions, and the many gifts he shared with others.

James was a man of faith who believed in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His faith was an important part of his life, and his family finds comfort in knowing that he has now joined his loved ones in Heaven.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret M. Hutcherson and Marvin Reid Hutcherson; his sisters, Carol H. Stafford with husband Jack Stafford, and Cindy Lee Hutcherson; and his brother, Henry Stephen Hutcherson with wife Brenda L. Hutcherson.

Though his family and friends will deeply miss his presence, his memory will live on through the people he loved, the lives he touched, the artwork he created, and the many memories he left behind.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Myrtle S. Hutcherson; his sons, Billy J. Holland with wife Angel L. Holland and Christopher J. Hutcherson; his grandchildren, Christopher James Holland and Danica Leigh Holland; and countless family members and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

James has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior and the family members who went before him. May he rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus, knowing he was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
