James Donald Owens, 83, of Eden passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Kernersville Medical Center.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4 pm Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 pm at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

James was born in Eden on June 22, 1942, a son of Spencer George Owens and Marjorie Kirkman Owens, both deceased. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He retired from Venture Construction Company. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.

James is survived by his wife, Barbara Bolick Owens of the home; his daughter, Lisa Mabe of Eden; his honorary daughter, Deanna Mabe of Stoneville; his sons, Charles Owens (Wendy) of Stoneville, James Lawrence Owens (Ashley) of Eden, Robbie Owens (Kylie) of Hagerstown, MD; his sister, Phyllis Gibson (Dan) of Eden; his brother, George Owens (Tracy) of Springfield, IL; his eleven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Fannie Aliff, Jean Lemons and Marie Yost; and his brothers Lawrence Owens, Sonny Owens and Steve Owens.
