James Wayne Taylor, 72, of Eden passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Overlook Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10 until 10:45am at Boone & Cooke, Funeral Home before the service.

James was born in Eden on September 2, 1947, a son of Jesse Clarence Taylor and Joy Butler Taylor, both deceased.  He was a Vietnam veteran serving as a Navy Corpsman.  He received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star and was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.  He loved working with wood.  He was an avid reader and especially loved science fiction.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Churchill Taylor of the home; his son, Kevin Ray Taylor and wife Jennifer of Eden; and his grand animals, Kaylee, Clementine, Mara, Tuxie, Sammie, Isabella and Sweetie.
