James Edward Tilley, Sr., 56, of Summerfield passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Cone Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2021 at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Tilley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

James was born in Guilford County on October 18, 1964, a son of Thomas Wesley Tilley, Sr. and Ruby Hargar Tilley, both deceased.  He worked in construction.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas "Bug" Wesley Tilley, Sr., Kenneth William Tilley and one grandchild in heaven.

Surviving are his wife, Patsy Wigington Tilley of the home; his children, James Edward Tilley, Jr. and wife Deborah of Stokesdale, Thomas Ray Tilley, Sr. and wife Stacey of Stokesdale, Allen Michael Tilley and wife Ashley of Ruffin, Debbie Jo Gainey and husband Brad of Summerfield; his siblings, Minnie Brown of Wilmington, Susan Sands and husband Dale of Summerfield, Maddy Kirkpatrick and husband Howard of Summerfield, Anna Marie Frye and fiancé Ricky of Sophia, NC, Paul Sands and fiancé Linda of High Point; his grandchildren, Michael, Austin, Thomas, Skyler, Mason and Brayden; and his mother-in-law, Mary Wigington.
