The world lost a cherished and beloved mother, wife, friend, sister, and grandmother late into the night on September 30, 2022.  She passed away in her bed comfortably after enjoying a relaxing evening painting in her art room.

Janet was born in Roanoke, Virginia on December 15, 1964.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Newman and her father, James "Pop" Newman, as well as her sisters, Barbara Jean Hartness and Judith Rosser.

She is survived in life by her husband Ryan Herring and her children, Travis Shane Bowles and Shana LeAnn Bowles, brothers, Lacy Hartness and Darrell Hartness, grandson, Tyrus Bowles and a host of nieces and nephews and countless special friends.

Janet was a very special unique soul who could add life and love to any room she was in.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Her funeral service will be held from 6:00-9:00 pm on Wednesday, October 5, 2022,at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel.  Friends and family are welcomed to come say their goodbye and pay respects from 6:00-8:00 pm and the funeral service will begin at 8:00 pm.
