Jewell Huffman Cates, 78, of Reidsville passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at her home.

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Reidlawn Cemetery.

Jewell was born in Jerusalem, Arkansas on August 12, 1944, a daughter of Charlie Shelton "Shorty" Huffman and Onie Egger Huffman, both deceased.  She retired from Burlington Industries.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Bobby Cates; siblings, Roy Huffman, Larry Rainbolt and Doyle Huffman.

Jewell is survived by her children, Karen Chilton (Joseph) of Lexington, Tina Cates of Burlington, Debbie Coleman of Burlington and Gail Redd of Reidsville; her sister, Linda Rainbolt Adams of Arkansas; her brother, Bobby Rainbolt of Mississippi; her grandchildren, Macey Durham (William), Kaleb Durham, Emily Hodges, Cole Edwards, Vicky Rogers, Joshua White, Christy Cross, Jeffrey Richardson, Rodney Vinson; and her great grandchildren, Michael Hundley, Blane Hundley, Barrett Hundley, Lena Rogers, William Rogers, Liam Edward and Austin Edwards.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
