Joann Lawson Dickerson, 79, of Ruffin passed away at her home on Thursday, October 22, 2020.

A celebration of Joann's life will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020 at 2:00pm at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Daniel Bray officiating. Joann will be laid to rest in Happy Home Church Cemetery.

Joann was born in Rutherfordton, NC, a daughter of Thomas Lee Lawson and Allie Bollock Lawson, both deceased. She retired from the Rockingham County School System where she was employed as a nutritionist.

She is survived by her sons, Billy Joe Penn and wife, Ann of Eden, Herbert Louis Overton-Penn and wife, Toni of Reidsville, and Tommy Overton-Penn and wife, Sandy of Ruffin; her sister, Joyce Kay Carter of Wentworth; grandchildren, Tara, Nikki, Billy Jr., Jesse, Brandon, Joanna, Brandi, Seth and Tommy, Jr. and 14 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Joann was predeceased in death by her husband, James Edward Dickerson.

A visitation will be held from 1 until 2 pm, prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home, and other times at the residence, 717 Dickerson Rd, Ruffin.
