John James Herzog, 81, of Eden passed away on May 25, 2024, at Wesley Long Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Eden Baptist Church.

John was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 16, 1943, a son of John Henry Herzog and Reta Finnigan Herzog, both deceased.  He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Master Machinist Mate Senior Chief.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Bryon Herzog, Joann Herzog, Kenneth Herzog and Reta Frech.

John is survived by his wife, Celia Farmer Herzog of the home; his children, Cathy Albright (Gary) of Altoona, PA, John Herzog of Coatsville, PA, Joanna Dalton (Ray) of Stoneville, Jessica Hylton (Brandon) of Roanoke, VA, Jordan Webb (Charlie) of Eden, Jenna Comer (Willie) of Madison, Jackie Pulliam (J.C.) of Eden; his siblings, Sharon Fischer of Eden, Charles Herzog (Marie) of Virginia Beach, VA, Rosella Cox of Detroit, MI, Mary-Catherine Herzog of Houston, TX; his grandchildren, Heather, Alex, Shannon, Tyler, Nathan, Sean, Hunter, Danaka, Kyla, Ellie, Madelyn, Alannah, Rohan, Trevor; and his great grandchildren, Deicon, Audrihana and one little girl on the way.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Rockingham County Animal Shelton or to the American Cancer Society.
