Pastor John Wayne Kennon, 67, of Ridgeway went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, November 2, 2021 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 3 pm Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 628 King Street in Reidsville.  Interment will follow in Dan River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruffin.  The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 pm before the service at the church.

Pastor Kennon was born in Rockingham County on February 13, 1954, a son of Johnnie Cornelius Kennon and Marie Harris Kennon.  He was a diesel mechanic, but also the pastor of Peaceful Baptist Church in Danville for 32 years.  He loved to spend his time hunting, fishing and anything that allowed him to be outside.  Family was very important to him.  He enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren.  He loved being "Paw" to his two great grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Reynolds Kennon of the home; his daughters, Gayle Jackson and husband Joseph of Ridgeway, Crystal Wayne Denton of Ridgeway, Faye Bray and husband Douglas of Eden; his father, Johnnie Kennon of Reidsville; his mother,  Marie Kennon of Reidsville; his siblings, Linda Edwards, Michael Kennon, David Kennon, Donnie Kennon; his grandchildren, Jacob Jackson, Sarah Elisabeth Cassell, Katelynn Williams, Addam Bray, Jasper Bray; and his great grandchildren, Phoenix and Isaiah Williams.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Peaceful Baptist Church, 1132 Berry Hill Road, Danville, VA 24541.
