Joseph "Joe Bill" Barnes, 73, of Eden passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Wesley Long Hospital.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-8 pm on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at the home of Crystal Mabe, 240 Westmoreland Road in Stoneville.

Joe Bill was born in Rockingham County on November 9, 1946, a son of Charlie Barnes and Ora Belle Sharpe Barnes, both deceased.  He was a truck driver, logger and brick mason.  He never met a stranger and everyone loved him.  He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is survived by his children, Christy Mabe and husband Richie, Shane Bailey, Daniel Barnes and wife Kayla, Jacob Barnes; his sisters, Vera Vernon, Minnie Sue Carter, Wren Vernon; his grandchildren, Dustin Hawkins, Amber Mabe, Bree Mabe, Elliot Barnes; his great grandchildren, Lhiam Mabe, Abrielle Binnabose and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to assist with the final expenses.
