Julius Stevens "Steve" Vernon, Sr., 74 of Eden passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 2pm at Boone and Cooke Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Ridge-View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Steve was born in Eden on September 17, 1950 a son of George McKinley Vernon and Rachel Padgett Vernon, both deceased. He received a bachelor's degree in business and worked at Dupont. He was a wonderful husband, dad and brother.

In addition to his parents,  he was predeceased by his wife,  Gail Land Vernon.

He is survived by his sons, Julius Stevens 'Bo" Vernon, Jr. and Michael "Shawn" Vernon both of Stoneville and his siblings, Terry Vernon and wife, Tammy of Eden, Frances Eanes of New Bern, Michael "Rabbit" Vernon and wife, Laura of Eden, Toni Coble and husband, Barry of Burlington and Sammy Vernon and wife, Carol of Eden.
