Kay Mitchell Burnette, 81, of Madison passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Jacob's Creek Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

A private service will be held.

Kay was born on April 9, 1944 in Henry County, Virginia, a daughter of Joseph Kemper Mitchell and Daisy Wilson Mitchell, both deceased.  She retired from E.I. DuPont Co.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Wayne Burnette; her brother, Richard Mitchell and her sister, Ruby Grey Roberts.

Kay is survived by her brothers, Mike Mitchell of Eden and Jack Mitchell of Germantown, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
