Kay JoAnn Irving Griffin, 88, of Mayodan passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Annie Penn Hospital.

To honor her wishes, there will be no services.

Kay was born in Rockingham County on June 14, 1936, a daughter of Joseph Scott Irving Sr. and Merle Crews Irving, both deceased.  She retired from Tultex.  She was a very generous person, who loved to shop on QVC and then give away what she would buy.  She also loved any kind of ice cream.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Lee "Doc" Griffin, and her sister, Merle Ray Irving Case.

Kay is survived by her children, Billy Griffin (Gina), Kevin Griffin (Amy) and Tommy Hutson; her siblings, Joseph Scott Irving, Jr. (Pat) and Brenda Irving Canaday; her six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; her special friends, Timothy and Amanda Knight and Kevin Turner; and her beloved neighbors who cared for her through the years.
