Lewis Marion Blackmon III, 83, of Eden passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at UNC Rockingham Hospital.

There will be no formal service at this time.

Lewis was born in Durham, NC on September 3, 1939 the son of Lewis Marion Blackmon, Jr. and Mary Durr Blackmon, both deceased. He was a commercial painter by trade and a very talented musician. He played the banjo, mandolin, dulcimer and the harmonica. He also played the dobro and built many of his own.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Mickey Lee Blackmon.

He is survived by his sons, Mike Davenport and wife, Wendy of Goldsboro, NC and Lewis Marion "Sonny" Blackmon and fiancé, Kimberly Rose of Eden; his daughter, Laura J. Foy of Durham; his grandchildren, Nova Blackmon, Alexander Foy, Alyssa Foy, Zachery Pope, Kyle Blackmon, Harleigh Blackmon, Brandon Davenport, Ashlee Goodrich, Beth Strickland and Kimberly Best and his great grandchildren, Ayden Foy, Charleigh Pope, Zaxton Pope, Persephone Pope, Lilly Grice, Cora Burdick, Jaxon Goodrich, Ella Goodrich, Spencer Strickland, Branson Pope and Ramos Best.
