Obituary

Margaret Gilbert Robertson passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022, at UNC Rockingham Nursing Center.

A funeral will be held at 2 pm Monday, December 5, 2022, at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Ridge-View Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm Monday before the service at the church and other times at the residence.

Margaret was born to Elmer Gene Gilbert and Sallie Bowling Gilbert, both deceased.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her seven brothers, Welton, Cabel, Kenneth (Bill), Clyde, Ray, Ralph, Roger; and her two sisters, Madeline Pickelsimer and Mary Ruth Carroll.

She graduated from Leaksville High School with perfect attendance throughout her school years.  She graduated from Burlington Business College.  She was a faithful member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for over 50 years.  She was pianist and assistant director of the youth choir.  She was employed by American Tobacco, Hostess of Town and Country Restaurant and retired from Mitchell's Pharmacy.  At Christmas time, she loved to bake cookies for her friends and family.  She was proud of being chosen the 2019 Queen of the Prom at UNC Rockingham Nursing Center.

She was married 61 years to the well known Auctioneer, Hunter Robertson, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen of Eden and her son, David of Hickory; two grandsons, Andy Blanton and wife, Tracy of the US Army at the Pentagon, Washington, DC and Jesse Blanton and wife Hahn of Hawaii; her great grandchildren, Oliver Blanton, Mena Blanton, Janet Blanton and her very dear friend and caregiver, Wendy Jeffries, who took excellent care of her.  They read the Bible together and talked about the Lord.

Memorials may be made in honor of Margaret to the charity of their choice.
