Marie Ann Cherwaty Burchell, 81, of Eden passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at her home.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11 am Friday, January 23, 2026, at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 am before the service at the funeral home.

Marie was born in Spray on January 25, 1944, a daughter of Joseph Alexander Cherwaty and Mary Shelton Cherwaty, both deceased.  She retired from BB&T (Truist) Bank.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Jack Stanford Burchell.

Marie is survived by her children, Sandy Willis (Ben) of Eden and Michael Burchell of Eden; her siblings, Jenette Dyer (Watt) of Eden and Joe Cherwaty (Carol) of Summerfield; her grandchildren, Brandon Frazier and Danielle Willis; and her great grandchild, Brinley Frazier.
