Mary Louise Scearce Rice, 92, of Eden passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Cone Health.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in Ridge-View Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm before the service at the funeral home.

Mary was born in Danville, Virginia on December 2, 1928, a daughter of Jesse William Scearce and Creola Gover Scearce, both deceased.  She was retired from Fieldcrest Mills.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Glenwood Rice; and her siblings, Raymond Scearce, Daniel Scearce and Diane Scearce.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Linda Washburn and husband Bobby of Reidsville and Debbie Caudle and husband Mike of Eden; her siblings, Romaine Ham of Danville, Mildred Powell and husband J.C. of Pelham, Eugene Scearce and wife Peanut of Axton, VA and Cleaveland Scearce and wife Everline of Eden; her grandchildren, Brian Washburn and wife Dana, Jimmy Washburn and wife Beth, Todd Caudle and wife Eva, Jody McKinney and husband Michael; her great grandchildren, Jenna Washburn, Abby Caudle, Ashley Washburn, Matthew Washburn, Steven Washburn and Daniel Washburn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
