Mary Lee Sands Pruitt, 81, passed away, Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Martinsville Health & Rehab.

The funeral service will be 2:00PM Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service from 1 until 2PM, and other times at the residence. The funeral will be livestreamed under the obituary for Ms. Pruitt.

A native of Rockingham County, she was born on July 8, 1941, to the late Walter Sands and Lucy Glydewell Sands Akers. She retired from Klockman Mills.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great grandson, Jonathan Sturgill, as well as several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Sheckles and David Thompson of Martinsville, and Jean Bradford and husband Jerry of Eden; siblings, Carol James of Eden; grandchildren, Tina Waller and husband John of Ridgeway; great grandchild, Shawna Waller; great-great grandchild, Jocelyn Kinsey; as well as several nieces and nephews.
