Mary (Loretta) Simpson Cox, 92, of Reidsville passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Annie Penn Hospital.

Due to her request, there will be no funeral service or visitation.  The family will receive friends at the residence.

Mary was born in Pelham on August 23, 1933, a daughter of Brady Emerson Simpson and Ethel Lee Yates Simpson, both deceased.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother.  Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, and cooking for her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Robert Lee Cox, Jr.; her sons, Robert Lee "RL" Cox III and Perry Stephen Cox; her brothers, Haywood, Maurice, Otis, Clyde, Raymond and Aubrey Simpson; and her sisters, Elma S. Evans and Geraldine E. Reagan.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Jessica C. Merritt (Larry) of Reidsville; her sisters, Tiny S. Reagan of Reidsville, Shirley S. Smith of Pelham; her grandchildren, Wade Merritt (Kristie), Melanie M. Corum (Shawn), Roberts L. Cox IV, Danielle C. Stanley (Beau), Kristi DeLayne; her 13 great grandchildren, her 6 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
