Monroe Nelson Redd, Sr., 87, of Eden passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at UNC Rockingham Nursing Center.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 3 pm Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, at Overlook Cemetery with Pastor Howard Owens officiating.

Monroe was born in Halifax County, Virginia on June 5, 1935, a son of Matthew Thomas Redd and Mattie Davis Redd, both deceased.  He was a US Army Veteran. He was retired from Fieldcrest Mills.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Redd, and his brothers, Benny Redd, Roy Redd, Melvin Redd and Carroll Redd.

Monroe is survived by his sons, Michael Redd of Eden and Monroe Redd, Jr. and wife Deborah of Reidsville; his sister, Dorothy Odell of Eden; his grandchildren, Emily Arocho and husband Daniel and Todd Accomando and wife Holly; his great grandson, Logan and his special nephew, Benny Jerrell Redd.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
