Nellie Sue Freeman Corum (Suebird), 64, of Eden, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at UNC Rockingham Health Care.

A service of remembrance will be held at 3 pm Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Hampton Heights Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends form 2 until 3 pm Saturday at the church before the service.

Mellie was born in Rockingham County on January 5, 1959, a daughter of Birtie Nelson Scott and John Howard Scott, both deceased.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Corum; her brother, Gordon Howard Scott, and her sister, Faye Robertson.

Nellie is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Corum and wife Tabitha of Oklahoma, and Christopher Corum and fiancé, Suzanne of Eden; her sister, Jan Wrenn; her grandchildren, Courtney Corum, Kaitlyn Corum, Jena Corum, Jonathan Corum and Ophelia Corum; her great grandchild, Jeremiah Brockington; her nephew, Tim Scott; and her nieces, Doris Ann Wilson and Chelsea Pratt.
