Opal Wilson Pope, 92, of Eden passed away Thursday morning, December 28, 2023 at Eden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in Ridge-View Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm before the service and other times at the home of her daughter.

Opal was born in Stoneville on March 12, 1931, a daughter of Aaron Wilson and Eva Hill Wilson, both deceased.  She was retired from Roses Department Store and was a member of Spray Baptist Church.  She enjoyed socializing at McDonalds when her health allowed.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Bobby Junior Pope; her daughter, Teresa Pratt; her sisters, Galine Davis and Hazel Wilson and her granddaughter's husband, Nate Fitts.

Opal is survived by her daughter, Deborah Howell of Eden; her sister, Margaret McGehee of Eden; her grandchildren, Leah Halstead (Preston), Troy Pratt (Jordan) and Taylor Fitts; her great grandchildren, Kynleigh Pratt, Jackson Pratt, Ella Jane Pratt, Grant King, Cooper Halstead, Maisie Fitts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
