Oscar "Lee" Shorter, 65 of Ruffin passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023 at his residence.

A memorial Service will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Boone and Cooke Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 5 until 6 pm at the Funeral Home. The service will be live-streamed from this page at the bottom of the obituary.

Lee was born in Rockingham County on January 21, 1958, he worked for Jerry's Restaurant for many years as a cook. He loved to cook and fish and most of all, Lee loved his son, Justin, and his grandchildren.

Lee is survived by his son, Justin Shorter and wife, Pam of Eden; his siblings, Michael Shorter of Eden, Robert Shorter of Franklin County, Thomas Jarrell and wife, Mae of Eden and Elizabeth Moxley of Danville, VA and his grandchildren, Makayla Shorter, Jonathan Shorter, Hannah Shorter and Savannah Shorter.

He was predeceased in death by his parents, Gilbert and Frances Jarrell and his brother, Wayne Shorter.
