Owen Alton Brown, 89, of Eden, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Eden Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.

A graveside service of remembrance will be 11:00AM Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Overlook Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard. Masonic rites will also be performed at the graveside.

Owen was born in Draper (now Eden) on July 28, 1934, a son of Bill Brown and Tura Clark Brown, both deceased.  He was a US Air Force veteran and retired from E.I. DuPont.  He was a member of Leaksville Masonic Lodge #136 A.F.&A.M. and attended Stoneville Christian Church.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughters, Babette Hawkins and Barbie Chaney; his stepson, Ricky Watkins; his siblings, Van C. Brown, Mary "Tini" Brock, Camille Smart, Billie Jo Black and Barbara Black; his grandson, Brett Hawkins and his great granddaughter, Avery Brown.

Owen is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Smith Brown; his stepson, Randy Watkins and wife Gary Ann; his grandchildren, Barrett Brown, Brodie Hawkins and wife Britney, Breanne Dameron and husband Josh, Abby Woerner and husband Steven, Torie Pace and husband Ty, Todd Watkins and wife Faith and Josh Watkins; and his 11 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Leaksville Masonic Lodge #136, P.O. Box 26, Eden, NC 27289, or to Ancora Compassionate Care, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
