James Ray Shelton, 81, of Stoneville passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Ridge-View Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm on Tuesday before the service at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home.

Ray was born in Eden on December 20, 1942, a son of James Arthur Shelton and Nellie Curry Shelton, both deceased.  He retired from Dave's Construction where he worked as an electrician.  He loved his grandchildren and had a tender heart for all children.  He enjoyed contributing to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to help the children there.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Renee Norris; his sister, Aileen Land; his brother, Robert D. Durham; and his granddaughter, Amanda Shelton.

Ray is survived by his children, Marie Shelton and Allen Shelton; his brother, Thomas C. Shelton; his grandchildren, Alex Shelton, Carissa Shelton, Heather Wooding, Crystal Shelton, Summer Pierce, Cameron Pierce; his many great grandchildren and his nephew, Thomas Cheshire and wife Joelene.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
