Rodney Eugene
Slaughter
May 19, 1965 — Apr 9, 2021
Rodney Eugene Slaughter, born May 19, 1965, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2021 surrounded by his family.
The service will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 4:00PM at the Church of the Epiphany.
Rodney was born in Eden, and graduated from Morehead High School where he was a star on the Panther football team, inheriting the name "Rocket" for his speed. He was employed by Skywalker Roofing as a top salesman.
He is survived by his wife, the former Leland (Lea) Knight; his daughters, Hannah and Taylor; his mother, Elizabeth (Sis); sister, Sherrie; brothers, Barry and wife Angie, and Jeff and wife Dawn. He leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family to cherish his memory. Also surviving are his mother in law, Helen; members of the Knight family; Hannah's mother, Beth; and special friend, Jan.
He was preceded in death by his father Bill (William Eugene Slaughter).
Rodney was a family man and was so proud of "his girls." He never met a stranger, making friends everywhere he went. He was an avid gardener known for his beautiful ferns and hostas. He loved to fish, play golf, and was an excellent grill chef where his much loved four legged buddies, Baxter and Brock assisted (waiting for a treat).
In lieu of flowers, please consider The Church of the Epiphany or Hospice of Rockingham County for memorials.
Boone & Cooke, Inc. Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
